TOWAMENCIN- Students, get your makeup on and shuffles ready, because North Penn High School is proud to announce that they will be the next setting for the newest season of the famous AMC show, The Walking Dead.

With season six coming to a close this Sunday, the directors of The Walking Dead were scratching their heads to figure out where Rick’s group was going to head to next.

“The idea came when I had to drop my daughter off at school last weekend,” one of the directors and head of the makeup department Greg Nicotero explained. “It was a Tuesday, right after her spring break, and she had missed the bus from sleeping through her alarms, I had to drag her out of bed. Her hair was a bit of a mess, as were here clothes. When she left my car, she was shuffling her feet and groaning about having to wake up so early, and then it hit me- she, along with the other students going to school that day, all looked just like zombies… minus the makeup.”

The search began to find a high school that fit their tight criteria: it had to be on the east coast because the original setting for the Walking Dead is in Georgia, the school had to be big enough to fit all of those walkers, and the school had to start very early in the morning, as to ensure maximum walker qualities. Fortunately, North Penn fit the bill.

Although they wanted many, many walkers for their big scenes, Nicotero explained that they still will have to hold auditions for the more advanced roles of the walkers.

“It may seem like being a walker would be simple business, but most of the walkers on our show go through a special academy to become ‘walker certified’. Also, not all of them are equal-most will die in a group, almost unnoticeable through the slashing of heads and swords. However, some of the more talented lame brains may be shown on their own, or may even kill off an unwanted character. These actors will have to go through rigid training to become the best walkers they can be. We’re looking at mostly AP students for those, or students involved in many extracurricular activities, as they often have to go with very limited amounts of sleep. But really, auditions are open to any high school student with large amounts of stress on them.”

To prepare for audition day, Nicotero suggests you go about your daily routine- wake up excruciatingly early, go to school for about 7 hours, then attend all your regular after school activities- whether it be lessons, rehearsals, or meetings. Get home late, scarf down a dinner, and begin your endless hours of homework. Once you’re done your homework, it should be very late at night (or very early in the morning), so try to get a solid 5-6 hours of sleep before doing the entire thing over again. This, along with not even beginning to fix your hair or wear anything besides pajamas, should get you a contract with the show immediately!

If you are part of the group that unfortunately does not make the cut for the show, have no fear! The cast of the beloved show will be taking pictures with all of those auditioning, along with a Q&A session later next month. And for all those waiting anxiously to see the season six finale this Sunday, and will be incredibly tired that Monday from staying up to watch the 90-minute, action packed gore, remember that next season you could be watching yourself get slaughtered by Daryl Dixon or Michonne (think of the schools you’ll be accepted to with THAT on your college resume)!
