Playa Bowls review: trendy meets healthy

Being the foodie I am, I’m always on the hunt for new, healthy places to eat around town. Recently my favorite place to go for a refreshing after school snack or Saturday morning brunch is Playa Bowls in Doylestown.

At Playa Bowls, they specialize in unique smoothie bowls with bases made of acai, banana, kale, coconut, chia, and dragon fruit. You can order these bowls with toppings such as strawberries, blueberries, bananas, kiwi, mango, pineapple, granola, coconut, seeds, honey, nutella, peanut butter, white chocolate, and more. Not only do they have smoothie bowls, but they have smoothies, oatmeal, soups, juices, and poke.

Yes, it isn’t right down the street, but the drive is nice and it doesn’t feel like thirty minutes away when you blast music and jam with your friends. It’s on a cute street with big windows that allow a lot of light to pour into the small shop. Inside, it is decorated like a surf shop, with surfboard tables and turquoise art on the walls. A continuous montage of the beach and surfers is playing on loop on the TV. The aesthetic of the place plays a big part in the store’s overall vibe, which makes me feel like it’s a laid back summer afternoon.

Playa Bowls is not exactly the cheapest place around, their bowls range from $9-$11. But at least for me, it’s worth it since the food is fresh, healthy, and extremely good. I would rather spend ten dollars on an acai bowl then five dollars at McDonalds any day. I give the restaurant a nine out of ten overall, because they have never disappointed me. The bowls look so beautiful with the arrangement of bright colors of fruit, and they taste equally as good. The only reason I do not give it a ten out of ten is because they could be cheaper and it could be closer. However, it is such a great place to go with friends or family every once and a while for a wholesome meal. I definitely recommend Playa Bowls for any person looking for a cool, different place to eat this weekend.
