A whopping winter review: Starbucks winter menu 2023

Two of many delicious winter specialties featured on the Starbucks winter menu.

This holiday season, Starbucks has introduced a variety of new holiday drinks and baked, goods as well as brought back some fan favorites. In this review, we tried out just a few of Starbucks most popular winter menu items so that you know what to order on your next coffee run.

Sugar Cookie Almond Milk latte-

Rating-10/10

This coffee is by far my favorite thing on Starbucks’ winter menu. The Iced Sugar Cookie Almond Milk Latte is a blonde espresso roast with almond milk, sugar cookie syrup, and red and green sprinkle topping. In my opinion, the red and green sprinkles are what make the coffee so festive and fun to drink. What I especially like about this drink is that it doesn’t have an overwhelming “holiday taste” like cinnamon or eggnog. A delicious, and almost necessary, addition to this coffee is the Sugar Cookie Cream Cold Foam. For an extra $1.25 you can enjoy the sugar Cookie Cold Foam with your coffee to truly amplify the holiday flavor. All in all this coffee is definitely one for the books.

Peppermint Mocha-

Rating- 10/10

The Starbucks Peppermint Mocha is a classic holiday drink made with espresso, steamed milk, peppermint mocha syrup, and whipped cream and topped with dark chocolate shavings. One of the best things about the Peppermint Mocha is that the flavors of peppermint and chocolate are mixed together. Another great thing about the Peppermint Mocha is that it is available in hot, iced, and Frappuccino form. The beverage had an excellent balance of peppermint and mocha and was not overly sweet. The Peppermint Mocha is the ideal drink to get you in the holiday spirit and is definitely my favorite.

Peppermint cake pop-

Rating- 6/10

This crunchy Christmas treat was a decent addition to the winter menu. The cake pop has a brownie base encrusted with crystallized peppermint flakes. Although I did enjoy the cake pop, it tastes slightly like toothpaste. If you love peppermint this might be the flavor for you, but personally between the texture and the peppermint taste it was just alright and I probably wouldn’t order it again.

Caramel Brulee latte-

Rating- 7/10

The Iced Caramel Brulée Latte is a delightful Starbucks signature that combines the classic flavors of caramel and coffee in a refreshing iced beverage. It’s crafted with Starbucks’s signature espresso, milk, ice, and a rich caramel brûlée sauce, all topped with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of crunchy caramel brûlée bits. As I took a sip, I tasted the caramel sauce, which was sweet and indulgent, reminiscent of a crème brûlée dessert. Though somewhat muted, the espresso provided a subtle coffee undertone that balanced the sweetness and added a touch of complexity. This drink tasted perfect, but I was not a fan of the caramel brûlée bits that were topped on the drink.
