Tragedy Strikes High School in Florida

Former 19-year old student of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Nikolas Cruz, unleashed a hail of gunfire Wednesday, killing at least 17 students and faculty. The shooting is among the top deadliest mass shooting in the modern United States and has once again revived the gun debate. “My prayers and condolences to the families of the victims of the terrible Florida shooting. No child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school,” President Donald Trump said. “It’s really a blessing to still be alive,” student Kayden Hanafi said.

Military Added 4,000+ Names to Gun-Ban List

The US military rushed to add more than 4,000 names to the gun ban list after the Texas church attacks last November. A majority of the newest members of the gun ban list are dishonorably discharged military personnel, similar to the ex-US airman who attacked the church in Texas. They have added 4,284 names to the list in just three months, about a 38% leap, which is a substantial improvement. More names will most likely be added after recent events in Florida.

Israeli Prime Minister to be Indicted

The Israeli police stated on Tuesday that there is “sufficient evidence” to indict Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on criminal charges in two corruption cases, known as Case 1000 and Case 2000. Case 100 states that Netanyahu received gifts from businessmen overseas totaling 1 million shekels (approximately $280,000) from 2007 through 2016. Case 2000 states that Netanyahu discussed “bartering” with Arnon “Noni” Mozes, the owner of one of Israel’s leading newspapers, Yedioth Ahronoth, which is regularly critical of the Prime Minister. Netanyahu has repeatedly proclaimed his innocence, insisting that investigators will find he did nothing wrong.

South African President to Resign

South African president, Jacob Zuma, chose to resign in light of some recent corruption scandals. Zuma finally quit after a slew of corruption scandals drained support from his ruling African National Congress party. “As I leave I will continue to serve the people of South Africa as well as the ANC, the organization I have served all of my life in,” Zuma said. The leader of the South African opposition party, Mmusi Maimane, said that the former President should see his day in court on corruption charges. “It’s about time,” Mmusi Maimane said. He faces more than 783 allegations of corruption relating to a 1990s arms deal. Zuma denies all the corruption allegations against him.
