A Farewell to F40: Mrs. Maria Shaw’s next chapter

Mrs. Maria Shaw prepares to say goodbye to her F40 family as she enters her retirement after twenty-one years of supporting North Penn students and staff.

Shaw began her North Penn career in 2005 at Knapp Elementary School working as a principal’s secretary, where she handled all of the front office. Today, people can find her in the senior home office, F40, working as the administrative assistant to both Dr. Jenkins and Mrs. Linn.

“I started at Knapp Elementary in 2005 and this is my sixth year at the high school. My favorite memory is seeing my Knapp students from kindergarten to graduates,” Shaw explained.

For Shaw, one of the hardest things about retiring in July is leaving her beloved colleagues. Anyone walking into F40 can sense the closeness between the staff, who make their work community seem to be one of family.

As hard as moving onto the next chapter will be for Shaw, having a couple exciting trips planned for the future is definitely making the transition an exciting one.

“In September, I’m going to head to Italy. My brother lives in Italy and he is turning eighty, so I’m going to go surprise him, and then in October our friend group is going to Ireland,” Shaw explained.

“I’m excited to see where the next leg of my journey takes me,” Shaw stated.

Although the walls of F40 are sure to feel different without Mrs. Shaw’s presence, her impact is one that is sure to last for years to come.

“I wish all students and staff well wishes on their journey ahead as I journey ahead onto my new life,” Shaw stated.
