Moving thirteen hours away from home may be the dream for some people, but for others that may be just where the dream begins.

This past August, North Penn High School graduate, Julia Beaver, packed up her bags and headed south for Nashville, Tennessee, where she would be attending Belmont University as a songwriting major to live out her dream as a musical artist.

Apart from her scheduled classes, Beaver finds creative outlets to share her music with people as often as possible.

Her most recent performance was a couple of weeks ago when she performed three of her original songs through the Belmont University Songwriters Association or BUSA.

“Every few weeks, BUSA or a different organization will host a writers round, which means that three or four writers get up and take turns performing their original songs. It was a super cool experience, and I was really grateful to be a part of it,” Beaver explained.

Julia Beaver, or better known as Julia Noelle when it comes to her music, has been writing her own songs ever since she was in elementary school. From having her elementary school chorus perform one of her original songs, to majoring in songwriting in the music capital of the world, Beaver has never been one to give up on her dreams when it comes to her music.

“I performed three original songs. They were called In My Head, Last Word, and Tattoo,” Beaver stated.

“Two of the songs I wrote during my time at Belmont, and then one of them I wrote last year when I was actually applying to colleges for songwriting. That was Tattoo, so it was kind of full circle being able to perform it and go to college after writing it during the application process,” Beaver stated.

Beaver finds that she is able to find inspiration in so many different places when working on writing new songs.

“I definitely think that some of them are influenced by real life events and real emotions that I have, but I also think that I can see inspiration in different places. If I see an idea from someone else’s relationship that I’m watching or in a movie, or I just hear something in another song that sticks out to me, I’ll try and find an emotion or a topic to build around,” Beaver explained.

The real magic tends to come for Beaver once she finds her inspiration and allows herself to “create [her] own world within the songs.”

Being in Nashville only seems to enhance the inspiration, especially being surrounded by such a supportive music community.

“I think that my favorite thing about Nashville so far has been the supportive community that they have there, especially within the music community. Being able to perform alongside people who are so cool and see their writing styles and to be able to showcase my work in a way that I was proud of was something that I haven’t really had the opportunity to do here as much, so it was really special to be able to do that my first semester,” Beaver explained.

Being only one semester into her college experience, Beaver has already shared so much of her talent with the city of music.

It’s certain that this is only the beginning of the mark that Julia Noelle will leave on the city of music.
