2012 SHAKESPEARE COMPETITIONS
AUDITIONS: TUES., JAN. 17 ~ 6:00 – 8:00 PM
AUDITION WITH MONOLOGUES & SONNETS ONLY.
(SCENES WILL BE SELECTED LATER.)
#1 ENGLISH-SPEAKING UNION
- MONDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2011 ~ 7 AM TO 4 PM
- Arden Theatre, Philadelphia, PA
- REQUIREMENTS
- One 20-line Monologue from Shakespeare
- One Sonnet
- Both memorized
- ONE student will be chosen to represent NPHS
- Expenses paid by NPHS Theatre
- 1st, 2nd, 3rd, place monetary prizes
- 1st place winner goes to NYC weekend of April 22-24
to represent Philadelphia Region in National Competition
- 1st Place winner in NYC gets all expenses paid trip to
England in summer of 2012 to study Shakespeare
and acting for 2 weeks.
#2 PENNSYLVANIA SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL
- SATURDAY, MARCH 3, 2012 ~ 7 AM – 11 PM
- DeSales University, Center Valley
- REQUIREMENTS
- Up to THREE Students chosen to each perform one 1.5-3 minute monologue
- Up to NINE Students chosen to perform up to three 2 or 3 person scenes of 3-5 minutes each
- Attend DeSales University production of A View from the Bridge by Arthur Miller that evening.
- Expenses paid by NPHS Theatre
- 1st, 2nd, 3rd place prizes (trophies, money, and potential scholarships to DeSales University Department of Performing Arts) in monologue, scene, and all school categories
