North Penn Knights defense tries to bring Bucks run game down.

TOWAMENCIN-During the start of their homecoming game, the Knights came out with lots of energy, scoring a rushing touchdown on the opening drive, but as the game progressed, they could not stop the Bucks’ run game.

The North Penn Knights (2-3) lost to the Central Bucks West Bucks (2-3) 35-14 during North Penn’s homecoming.

Michai Cuffie scored the night’s first points with a rushing touchdown, putting the Knights up 7-0. On the Bucks’ opening drive Vinny Cherubini scored a rushing touchdown tying the game at 7-7. With 22 seconds left before halftime, Cherubini scored his second rushing touchdown, leaving the Bucks up 14-7. Late into the 3rd quarter, Bucks’ running back Eli Boehm scored his first touchdown of the game setting the Bucks up 21-7, two scores ahead. With one minute left in the 3rd quarter, Amir Major added to the Knight’s points on the scoreboard 21-14 making the game a one-possession game. Just as the Knights got back into the game, Boehm scored his second rushing touchdown, making it a two-possession game, again 28-14. Destroying any chance of the Knights coming back to win this one, Boehm scores his third touchdown making the final score 35-14.

Coach Dick Beck described his frustration with what went wrong during the game.

“We couldn’t play defense, we couldn’t get a stop, couldn’t tackle,” Beck stated.

Starting Left Guard for tonight’s game, Trey Anderson, explained why the game didn’t go as planned.

We saw the mistakes early, there were lots of players coming at us and we had to keep our eyes up really.

“We saw the mistakes early, there were lots of players coming at us and we had to keep our eyes up really,” Anderson said.

Anderson further went on to state that the team has five games completed and that they still have time to flip the season around.

“It’s not over yet…it only takes one team to make a difference. Once we get one win under our belt we will definitely be there, I know that. Gotta leave everything on the field, better days ahead next week,” Anderson concluded.

The Knights are now 2-3 in their 2022 season. Next week, they take on Central Bucks South (3-2) at 7 pm at Central Bucks South High School. The Knights hope to turn their season around and become more consistent as the season progresses.
