Jarret Niedosik against Dusten Pompei

Surburban One wrestling powerhouse, the Quakertown Panthers, matched up against the Knights Wednesday in the North Penn High School gymnasium, and the Knights showed the Panthers it was not going to be an easy win.

“(We) stopped a lot of the moves that Quakertown was trying to do and we worked on that yesterday.  We saw some heart from our boys tonight,” Head Coach Robert Shettsline said.

The North Penn Knights (1-2) lost to the Quakertown Panthers (3-0) 50-18 Wednesday night.

Senior Alec Schrum got the decision win over Patrick McCoy, 5-2, at the 145-pound weight class, to get the Knights off to a 3-0 start.

“I just gave up a takedown early.  I know I’m better than him on my feet, so I guess that woke me up,” Schrum said.

Aaron Sanchez then got a 7-5 decision win over Dylan Verwey to tie the meet up at 3.  Kyle Goodwin got a pin in the 160-pound match against Nick Ray but Jarret Niedosik responded with a pin in the 170-pound match against Dusten Pompei to tie the meet at 9.

“Coming out of that, it really just woke me up and I just flipped a switch and went off.  Honestly, I was mad about it, so I just let that take over,” Niedosik said regarding his pin after nearly being pinned himself.

Micah Kunkle got a decision win over Rodney Perander to give the Panthers a 12-9 lead.  The Panthers followed that with a pin from Freddie Retter, a decision win from Ralph Martin, a pin from Jeremy McGuigan, a forfeit win for Zach Borzio, a technical fall win from Todd McGann, and a pin from Kyle Miller.  The Panthers led 38-9 heading into the 126-pound match.

The Knights got on back on the board with a decision win from Eddie Galang, 10-5, against Vinny DeSpirito.  Zack Lewis pinned Nophir Harrell in the 132-pound match.  Then the featured match of the night between Will Morrow and Domenic DeFalco in the 138-pound match, ended a little bit sooner than hoped for as after Morrow went up 4-1 in the first period, the buzzer sounded, however DeFalco could not continue with an ankle injury.  Morrow won on a medical forfeit.

The Knights next meet will be at CB West Wednesday at 7:00.

“We have CB West next week, so just always keep improving,” Coach Shettsline said.
