Fall MVPs honored at annual banquet

The Fall Sports Recognition Banquet is always a poignant evening for North Penn athletes; it signals the end of their sports season.  Numerous North Penn teams gathered in the auditorium to be recognized for their accomplishments over the fall sports season.

Teams that attended were the Boys and Girls Cross Country teams, the Boys and Girls Water Polo teams, Girls Tennis, Girls Volleyball, and Golf.

Coaches mounted the podium and awarded a trophy to the most valuable player for their respective teams, along with sharing a quick word about the team’s performance over the season.

“The coaches will recognize all of the athletes for their hard work and commitment to their sport,” stated Mr. William Bartle, the athletic director for North Penn, “it’s a very exciting evening as we watch certain individuals receive awards for accomplishments that took a lot of hard work and dedication.”

There were some unique aspects of the award recipients.  Two members of the Golf team were deemed the MVP, while the Girls Tennis team had a Freshman receive the award.

Following the announcement of MVPs, each team then split off from the auditorium and went to another part of the school.  From there participation and varsity awards were presented, and coached gave their final words to their teams.

For many seniors, the completion of their final fall sports season was not easy.

“I might not have been fast, but those four years sure were,” said Greg Zappala, a Senior who had completed his final year of Cross Country.  “I’m definitely going to miss my teammates and coaches, and I’ll never forget the long runs during our practices.”

The Fall Sports Recognition Banquet truly closed the book on the fall seasons of many athletes.
