6x All Pro. 7x Pro Bowler. Superbowl Champion. 13 years played in Philadelphia. Jason Kelce’s football journey started in Cleveland Heights and ended in the City of Brotherly Love, where he officially retired on Monday.

I will never forget watching Jason Kelce standing in front of a million Eagles fans, including myself, as his voice trembled with emotion while saying, “It’s the whole team. It’s the whole team…We were a bunch of underdogs. And you know what an underdog is? It’s a hungry dog.” on February 8th, 2018, the day of the Philadelphia Eagles championship parade. At that moment, at eleven years old, I realized that Jason Kelce was the true representation of what a Philly athlete should resemble. From his underdog mentality to his undeniable talent, he set the bar high for others to follow.

Growing up in Philadelphia, Sundays meant more than just the end of the weekend; they were days reserved for football, and no game was complete without Jason Kelce in the center of it all. Whether it was his booming snap or relentless blocking, it was a joy to witness his impact on the field for the past 13 seasons.

Jason Kelce’s NFL career spanned over a decade, during which he earned a reputation as one of the most respected and beloved figures in Philadelphia sports history. Known for his tenacity, work ethic, and undeniable passion, Kelce inspired fans with every snap of the ball. His story is one of perseverance and determination, as he went from being a sixth-round draft pick to becoming a Super Bowl champion. Kelce’s journey epitomizes the quintessential underdog narrative that resonates deeply with Philadelphians.

Kelce significantly impacted the city through his impressive performance and selfless actions off the field. He devoted himself to making a difference in the community by using his platform to help others. Whether through his charity work or interactions with fans, Kelce embodied authentic leadership and was a role model for many. His dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of others is a testament to his character and commitment to the greater good.

As Kelce hangs up his cleats, I can’t help but feel grateful for the memories he has given us over the years. From his unforgettable performances on the field to his iconic parade speech, Kelce will always hold a special place in the hearts of Philadelphia sports fans. Although he has retired, his legacy will continue to inspire future generations. Thank you, Jason Kelce, for being the epitome of what it means to be a Philadelphia athlete.
