It was a tight battle for two periods on the ice last night, before the North Penn Knights turned things up a notch and powered their way into the Flyers Cup Championship game.

The Knights pulled away late to skate to a 5-2 win over Ridley and now will play Downingtown East on Friday night at 6:20 pm at Hatfield Ice in the winner take all championship game. Alex Peterson got the Knights on the board with a powerplay goal in the first period. Jake Heckenberger then scored in the 2nd period to give the Knights a 2-1 lead. The Knights and Ridley headed into the 2nd intermission tied at 2.

The Knights got the eventual  game winner from Spencer Silver early in the 3rd period and then added another power play goal later by Jared Barkley to put the Knights up by 2 goals. It was strong defense that kept North Penn on top the rest of the way and then Alex Peterson added an empty net goal with 13 seconds left to clinch the Knights win and advance them to the Finals of the Flyers Cup.

On the defensive side of the puck, the Knights had strong efforts from Austin Redilla, Joe Hawks, and Matt Fox, and Jake Snyder tallied 41 saves in net.
