North Penn needed an emotional boost following last week’s last-second heartbreaking loss to the CB South Titans; they got that and then some Thursday night at Souderton Area High school. The Knights offense ran up 442 yards of total offense and the defense suffocated the Indians in a 42-7 romp.

The Knights got off to a quick start in the first quarter. Following a penalty and a passing play that lost six yards, junior quarterback Jake Bevan hooked up with junior running back Nyfease West on a 74 yard pass and catch to go up 7-0.

The Knights didn’t look back from there, building a 28-0 lead by the half. In the first half North Penn was led on offense by Bevan and West. Bevan went 9-10 passing for 180 yards and a touchdown, while West was good for 6 carries, 27 yards and 3 touchdowns.

North Penn quickly put the game into the mercy rule on a 10 play, 90 yard drive to open the second half. From that point on the game was over and both teams subs were brought in to play out the string.

This was exactly the type of performance the Knights needed following their loss last week to the Titans, with their record now even at 3-3 things are beginning to look up for North Penn.

“It was a good game for us. We really needed a win. I think we were really feeling sorry for ourselves. This is something the team needed and something the coaching staff needed; this was a big win for us,” stated North Penn head coach Dick Beck following the game in an interview with WNPV.

The Knights first team offense, led by Bevan and West, absolutely dominated a Souderton defense that was simply not up to the task of slowing them down. The first teamers scored six touchdowns on six offensive drives, due in no small part to an excellent game form the offensive line.

“I thought this was our best night blocking. I wasn’t happy with some of the penalties but it was good to see us be explosive.” Beck added.

Jake Bevan turned in his best performance of the season so far only throwing one incompletion and Nyfease West, whose season has gotten off to a slow start, had a breakout game racking up 148 total yards and four total touchdowns. Both got to take the fourth quarter off following the insertion of the second teamers.

Next up for The Knights is their homecoming game against the struggling Bensalem Fighting Owls who come into the game with a record of 0-6. North Penn will look to string together their first pair of back-to-back wins this season.

The Knights have absolutely no wiggle room left if they want to make the playoffs with three losses. They may have to be perfect the rest of the way, their blowout on Thursday night might get the ball rolling in that direction.
