Justify wins Kentucky Derby

Race favorite Justify won the 144th Kentucky Derby on the wettest track track at Louisville’s Churchill Downs on Saturday. Nobel Prize Scandal

The 2018 Nobel Prize for Literature has been postponed due to yet another horrific sexual misconduct scandal. The crisis centers on a string of allegations against Jean-Claude Arnault, a leading cultural figure in Sweden and husband of Katarina Frostenson, who was an academy member until she stepped down in the wake of the scandal. The academy, one of Sweden’s most respected institutions, made the announcement Friday morning following a meeting of its remaining active members Thursday evening. The decision does not affect the other Nobel prizes, which are awarded separately. The academy has stated that this year’s literature laureate will be announced in 2019.

Giuliani Leaks Precious Information

Rudy Giuliani stated Wednesday that President Trump knew everything about Michael Cohen giving Stormy Daniels $130,000, and that President Trump reimbursed Michael Cohen back for the payments. Giuliani’s statement contradicted Trump, who previously denied knowing anything about the payment, which has since spurred a lawsuit against the President. Giuliani later said that he had spoken to the President far in advance about publicly discussing the reimbursement, and said he doesn’t expect to be fired.

Volcano Erupts on the Big Islands of Hawaii

The 6.9 earthquake that hit the Big Island of Hawaii triggered a volcanic eruption that didn’t show any signs of slowing down. The island was one of more than 110 earthquakes in just 24 hours. Power to some residents, who were already dealing with mandatory evacuation orders, was knocked out with molten rock and high levels of sulfur dioxide in the air. Hundreds of people have evacuated from Leilani Estates, a community of about 1,700 people, and Lanipuna Gardens. Harry Kim, mayor of Hawaii County, said the government will support residents, including those who want to go back to their homes to pick up some belongings.
