HERSHEY, PA – The North Penn High School (NPHS) Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Chapter represented North Penn at the FBLA State Leadership Conference in Hershey April 11-13. There were over 4,000 students from across the State of Pennsylvania in attendance to compete. Twenty-one North Penn students placed in the top ten in their events, including:

• Peter Laurens placed 2nd in Help Desk
• The team of Jacob Diamond, Collin McConaghy and Shannon Quinn placed 2nd in Sports and Entertainment Management
• Marc Curlee placed 3rd in Agribusiness
• The team of Morgan Brett, Madi Peyton and Amanda Skidmore placed 3rd for their promotional video for the state project video, “The Ronald McDonald House”
• Yang Yue placed 4th in Economics
• Chris Yang placed 4th in Business Calculations

• The team of Evelyn Ma, Annie Shi and Angeline Tong placed 5th in Publication Design
• Brian Durkin placed 7th in Desktop Application Programming
• Reid Dentner placed 8th in Investments/Stock Market and 1st in Securities and Investments
• The team of Gavin Hennessey, Luke Homan and Owen Kelly placed 8th in Hospitality Management
• Niketa Kulkarni placed 8th in Help Desk
• Abby Mueller placed 8th in Job Interview
• Stephanie Zhang placed 8th in Introduction to Financial Math
• The team of Fiyi Adebekun and Srikar Katta placed 9th in Emerging Business Issues

Nine of these students now advance to represent North Penn and compete at the National Conference in Atlanta this summer. NPHS student Kaitlyn Carrelli was elected at the conference to serve as the Pennsylvania State FBLA Secretary for the 2016-2017 school year.

The NPHS FBLA chapter also received chapter awards. We were recognized for having the 6th largest chapter membership in the state. The chapter also placed 10th in the state in the Outstanding Chapter category.
