TOWAMENCIN- Every fashion lover knows that Milan is the fashion capital of the world. Lovers of Dolce and Cabana, Gucci, and Saint Laurent watch anxiously for highlights of the various fashion shows and red carpet events to see the latest fashion trends. However, at North Penn High School, you don’t have to get on a plane to see a runway or a fashion show- one needs only to look in our auditorium.

On Thursday, members of the fashion and design classes of North Penn held the annual Fashion Show during third period, with the entire auditorium filled with students, faculty, and family members.

Teachers Mrs. Joelle Townsend and Mrs. Diane Galaton oversee the fashion department, but the career study students are the masterminds behind the show. From the music to the set, the five current career study fashion students created a fantastic show this year, with the theme “Secret Garden”.

The show started with a dance number from the North Penn Dance Team, performing to the song “Roses” by the Chainsmokers and North Penn alum ROZES. Then, a video was played called “Holy Flowers” that gave a sneak preview to the type of designs the audience would be seeing that day. Afterwards, the models began their walk down the runway. Models can be either the designers of the clothes or chosen models by the designers. From horns and capes to lights embedded in the dresses, the pieces created by the fashion students were breathtaking.

Even principal Todd Bauer joined in and modeled.

After the show, the career study students and fashion teachers thanked the audience and the alumni for coming and helping with the show, and concluded the fashion show with one last walk of every model.

One of next year’s career study students, junior Brianna Phelps, is very eager to plan the next show.

“This year, it was so much fun picking out the patterns and fabrics to make the clothing and fashion a possibility,” said Phelps. “We couldn’t have done such an amazing job without the teachers and career study students. I’m really excited to think of a new theme and ideas for next year! It has always been a dream of mine and I’m so glad to be a part of it.”
