Fall Activities Abound Throughout Area

Fall Activities Abound Throughout Area

Many people simply associate the fall season with back to school but for those who aren’t excited about this, there is still opportunity to enjoy this time of year.

Fall is a time of change, as well as a time of having fun, especially on Halloween. Kids, teens, and families enjoy going to haunted houses, hayrides, pumpkin patches, and much more. People like to try out new places, but sometimes have difficulty pinpointing where would be the best place for them to go.

In Lansdale, there aren’t really any haunted houses- that anyone knows of or visits, anyway- but there are a few places that offer some fall family fun. Two well-known places in this area are Freddy Hill Farm and Merrymead Farm. At Freddy Hill, some activities include a cornstalk maze, pumpkin patch, hayrides, and even some ice cream to put an end to a night full of excitement. At Merrymead, many activities match those at Freddy Hill including a pumpkin patch, hayride, cornfield maze, and even ice cream. Merrymead, however, also features a 700ft cornstalk tunnel that families can venture through on their night out.

For those who are looking for a little more scare to celebrate the fall season, haunted houses are not too far from home. If you are looking for a place as local as possible, Lulu’s House of Horrors would be your best bet. Lulu’s is located in Plymouth Meeting, PA about 25 minutes from Lansdale and offers a haunted house and haunted hayride combination, and also has a corn maze.

There are a few more haunted houses to be found if you don’t mind driving a little farther. Located in Spring City, about 40 minutes from Lansdale, is the Pennhurst Asylum. The abandoned mental hospital has been toured by Ghost Hunters and is said to be truly haunted, making it a great place for a little fright on Halloween. Another place, about 48 minutes from Lansdale is the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia. This old prison housed some of the most notorious criminals, including Al Capone, and is believed to be truly haunted. The Bates Motel in Glen Mills, which is said to be the scariest haunted attraction in the country, is another great venue less than 50 minutes away.

Fall is a wonderful time of year, so get out this season and have fun with your friends and family. Take advantage of the calm, cool, and crisp nights and overload your time with the heart-pounding adventures and leisure activities that you enjoy most. It AUTUMN be a great time!
