The Knight Crier is running a recurring feature on specific classes, clubs, and people to reach out to help students furthermore unravel their interests and achieve their educational/career goals after high school. In this installment, we will cover what opportunities North Penn has to offer for students interested in the various types of careers in sports.

Elective Classes

Athletic Training is a class that focuses on identifying injuries, conditioning tactics, and rehabilitation techniques. Students will have the opportunity to go on the sidelines of games to watch and/or help the athletic trainers, giving them a real-world experience. Any student interested in pursuing a career in athletic training, physical therapy, or any area of medicine should look to take this course.

Coaching/Officiating is a new physical education class coming to North Penn next school year. It will provide students with the opportunity to not only learn the rules of the game, but all the facets involved with being a coach, such as goal setting, the coaches’ various roles, ethical conduct, and coaching youth sports. With the wide variety of sports available at North Penn, you could learn how to officiate many different sports such as football, tennis, lacrosse, etc. After successful completion of this course, students can find coaching and/or officiating positions and volunteer opportunities.

Sports & Entertainment Marketing is a semester course that splits its classes to cover both sports and entertainment marketing. This course covers how to market a team to a specific city or fanbase. Students have the opportunity to create their marketing strategy for a sports franchise. There are various technologies and simulations that students will use to further their understanding of marketing a sports team.
