Squid game is a series on Netflix with one season and nine episodes in that season. It was originally written and performed in Korean but has been dubbed over in English, French, and Spanish. If you prefer to watch a show in the original language and put captions on you also have that option. Captions come in English, Spanish and Chinese. 

The show is a Netflix original series that was announced in 2019. It was released on September 17th, 2021. As of the week of October 6th, Squid Game has been placed at number one on Netflix’s Top 10 in the U.S. Today.

Squid Game is rated TV-MA because of the amount of blood, violence, and gore within the show. So if you don’t like blood, this might not be the show for you. It is a thriller with many twists and turns throughout. 

The squid game is a traditional game in Korea from the 1970s to the 1980s. Some describe it as an offense and defense game with a squid shaped box drawn on the ground. Some other games featured in the show are red light green light, marbles, and chess. 

I thought that the show was very well composed. I watched the show twice, once in English and once in Korean with English subtitles. I originally watched the show in English so I could understand the show better when I rewatched it in the original language. In the first 30 minutes of Squid Game, all I could think was “I hate this show already.” Once I got to the last 30 minutes all I could say was “I can’t believe they’re gonna leave me on this, I have to watch season two when it comes out.” 

I am definitely not the only person who loves the show. Squid Game has a 94% Tomatometer score and a 86% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Statistically, Squid Game is on track to be Netflix’s biggest hit of all time with Bridgerton being number one at 82 million households watching it within the first 28 days of release. A view on Netflix counts if an account watches two and a half minutes of a tv episode or movie. 

Netflix hasn’t confirmed a season two of Squid Game yet, but the open ended season finale gives me a reason to believe there could be one.
