TOWAMENCIN – In the conclusion of the Knights Armory sweatshirt fundraiser, enthused students presented impressive checks (both in size and dollar amount) to representatives from Knights for Life and The Giving Tree Foundation. The Economics in Practice class surpassed expectations and sold enough sweatshirts to donate $1200 to Knights for Life and $800 to sponsor two North Penn families through the Giving Tree Foundation.

In choosing the main charity to donate the funds they would raise, Jewel Rama, the president of Knights Armory, spearheaded the campaign for Knights for Life. “I happened to be at a Knights for Life event and then it just clicked. They’re a new group and I figured our whole purpose is trying to help people in need in the North Penn community. What better idea than to give the money to a North Penn started and run group?”

With the promise of at least $800 raised by the end of the fundraiser, the students set out to sell as many sweatshirts as possible, using business techniques to get the job done. With a better idea of sales and a stronger work ethic, the class worked together throughout the entirety of the fundraiser.

Rama topped the charts by selling a total of 85 sweatshirts to the student body, with Mason Nadeau coming in second.

Mr. McLarnon, teacher of the Economics in Practice class, was impressed by the work of his students: “They’re phenomenal, best students ever. A student class like this that doubled their efforts of what we planned to give out so much to charity – you have to love them.”

Knights for Life is a charity organization designed to benefit those in the North Penn community, whether it be through monetary donations to families who are struggling financially or extra help to people whose homes have been damaged.

The Knights for Life representative, Laura Smith, was ecstatic about the contributions from North Penn students. “It is the most heart-warming, enlightening feeling. To exceed their goals by 50% is huge, and the kids should be proud of themselves.”

The students involved in Knights Armory worked hard over the fundraising period and were rewarded with exceptional results.
