Thespian Troupe scares up some fun on First Friday

LANSDALE – First Friday in Lansdale is becoming a very strong community event with plenty of live music and vendors. The North Penn Thespian Troupe was there on October 4th and hosted their own booth where children could paint a pumpkin.

“The kids who painted pumpkins loved it, some kids even painted two,” Alexa Duffy, activities coordinator of the troupe, said.

“I was hoping to get thespians more immersed into the community,” said Duffy on why they decided to participate, “to really make it a Thespian event where everyone there could have a great time while benefiting the troupe as a whole.”

Thespian troupe fundraising coordinator, Siena Catanzaro, expanded on the subject adding, “Going to First Friday gave our troupe the chance to talk to our community about upcoming events and what our club does!”

First Friday was also holding a scarecrow contest that night. The Thespians got even more involved by sponsoring it and dressing up as scarecrows. Wearing plaid flannels, jeans, and some creepy make-up, the thespians roamed the blocks promoting the contest and their booth.

Siena remarked on the costumes: “It’s fun to see our troupe’s creativity!”

The night was an overall success. Many students and children had fun with something as painting a pumpkin to get into the fall spirit.

“It was such a great night! We’ll hopefully be at the November First Friday as well.” shared Siena.

Taking place on November 1st, the next First Friday will have a zombie theme. The Thespian Troupe is planning on being there once again and will be going all out in their efforts to be the best zombie on the block.
