Whether taking a stroll through J-Pod to admire the various creative digital photos, paintings, and designs on the wall or perusing through the labyrinth of winning artwork during the annual art show, it does not take long to notice that there are many talented artists in North Penn. Jennie Ju, a senior, is one of these amazing artists.
During her sophomore and junior years she took Electronic Art I and Art I courses. Jennie continues to take art classes once a week outside of school to learn the art of traditional Chinese watercolor painting. “I started when I was five,” Jennie beams. She looks up to her teacher because of “her ideas, her skills, and her experience. She is an amazing artist, not only because she is skillful, but because she can take her mistakes and make them beautiful.”
Jennie’s style is constantly evolving because “[it] changes depending on what you’re making art for. My graphic designs are very different from my watercolors, which are different from other my paintings that use different media.”
Certainly art classes have many perks, and Jennie enjoys many aspects about them, stating, “I love how much freedom you have to express yourself with art. You can take anything on your mind and use all kinds of media to express yourself for others to see. It’s fun and often relaxing when you’re just creating art for fun.”
As for continuing art in her future, Jennie added that “I don’t plan to pursue art as a career, but I will definitely keep it as a hobby. Doodling, sketching, painting – they’re my favorite pastimes.” We wish Jennie luck with whatever she chooses to do, and hope that she keeps creating beautiful artwork.
