Class of 2019, are you interested in giving a speech at graduation? Each year, seniors have the opportunity to send in graduation speeches and be selected to present it at Commencement. The selected speaker delivers their speech along with the valedictorian, salutatorian, and Class President. In order to be selected you must be academically eligible to graduate with Class of 2019, and you must be in good standing with respect to discipline, attendance (90% attendance rate), and tardiness (less than 10).

If you are interested in submitting a speech, stop by K025 for an application. When writing your speech keep in mind the requirements. The speech should send an inspiring message to the graduates, families, friends, faculty, and staff. The speech should be two to three minutes in length and must fall into one of the following categories: (1) welcome and reflection or (2) a look to the future and good luck. All speeches must be written and delivered by the the candidate who submits it, otherwise it will be disqualified.

Speeches and applications must be submitted to K025 by 3PM on Monday April 15th, 2019. After receiving applications the selection committee will read and evaluate all speeches by Friday April 26th, 2019. Students will then be notified whether or not they will qualify for the second round of the application process by Wednesday May 1st, 2019. The second round is speech delivery  where the selected students have to deliver their speech verbally to the selection committee. Students invited to the second round will deliver their speeches May 6th-8th after school in the auditorium.

After the second round, the selection committee will determine the class speaker, who will be notified by May 15th to speak at the tentative graduation date, June 12th, 2019. Good luck seniors and get started on writing your speeches!
