Key Club Yard Set for Saturday

LANSDALE-  Come out on October 22, 2011 to the North Penn’s Key Club’s yard sale.

The sale is being held to the right of the flagpole in the North Penn parking lot. Vendors should enter the parking lot and begin setting up their stalls at 8:00 am. They will be using the Snyder Road entrance. Once the event starts, buyers will use the main entrance off of Valley Forge Road.

“The vendors purchase a spot. They get four parking spaces: one for their car, three to sell their items. They bring their own table, and it is $30 for the four spots,” said Key Club adviser Mrs. Law

All the profits made by the vendors on their goods will be theirs to keep. The majority of the money raised by Key Club will be through the purchase of the four spaces, but Key Club will also have their own table set up with items being sold for their benefit.

“We’re raising money for Key Club. Our convention this year is in Penn State, at the Penn Stater,” states Law.

“Last year only one person went, which is a problem,” says Key Club president Maria Poccia, “So this year about 10 to 12 kids [is the goal].” Key Club hopes the money raised will make the price to go to the convention cheaper, thus allowing more students to attend.

Key Club is also raising the money for another cause.

“Pennsylvania Key Club has fundraised for Caitlin’s Smiles, so some of the money will be donated to Caitlin’s Smiles,” says Law.

Caitlin’s Smiles is a program set up by the family of Caitlin Hornung, a young girl who lost the battle against brain cancer. The program distributes craft kits to kids suffering from life threating diseases or illnesses, in the hope that they will enjoy the feeling of creativeness and sense of worth brought through art.

“The student volunteers will mostly be Key Club members,” says Law, “But if there are any other students who want to come out and help, they’re more than welcome to.”

The event will be held between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm in the North Penn parking lot.
