TOWAMENCIN – From the time they are born, many student-athletes dream of the day when their signature will make it official. With one swipe of the pen, the athletes officially commit to spending the next four years of their lives playing the sport that they love at the collegiate level. On Monday, twelve of North Penn’s student-athletes did just that.
On Monday, November 13, twelve North Penn seniors were honored in the NPHS auditorium for their outstanding athletic achievements as they signed their National Letters of Intent to play at the collegiate level. Assistant Athletic Director, Bianca Adams, opened the ceremony by acknowledging the hard work each of the athletes put in as well as the work put in by their coaches and family members.
“Family, friends, and loved ones that are here today, you guys have been here for these student-athletes their whole lives. I want to thank you guys for your countless sacrifices,” Adams stated.
There were a variety of sports represented at the ceremony including baseball, basketball, field hockey, lacrosse, softball, soccer, and water polo. The athletes were introduced and then given an opportunity to speak about their process when choosing their schools.
“I chose Thomas Jefferson because it was made clear that my growth would be prioritized there and I really appreciate that,” Thomas Jefferson Lacrosse commit Victoria Rossi shared.
University of Maryland Baltimore Softball commit Bella Nunn also shared some insight into her decision process.
“I chose UMBC because I truly loved the coaching staff and it just felt like a family from the moment I stepped on the campus,” Nunn expressed.
The athletes primarily showed excitement to work with their new coaches and teammates, emphasizing the importance of a positive team environment. While the athletes are sad to leave North Penn and its outstanding athletic programs, many of them expressed how excited they are for their future with their new teams.
“I will miss being with my softball teammates at North Penn and I will forever cherish all the fun memories I made,” Shippensburg University Softball commit Gianna Cimino shared. “However, I am super excited to be continuing my education and softball career at Shippensburg and I couldn’t have done it without my teammates and coaches who have helped support me along the way”.
Congratulations to these twelve student-athletes for all of their accomplishments. Their hard work and dedication to their sport will not go unnoticed. North Penn wishes each of these athletes good luck on their journey into the world of college athletics.
