TOWAMENCIN – After a slow start to their wrestling match against Souderton Wednesday night, the Knights (4-7) middle and heavyweights wrestled their way to victory, putting the Knight on top 37-36.
“The middleweights and the heavyweights came through and that’s exactly what we had expected.” Coach Robert Shettsline said.
Shettsline admitted to the performance being a “little stale” by the light weights, but they did manage to give the Knights an adequate number of points against rival Souderton. But when the middle and heavyweights took the mat the Knights were a force to be reckoned with.
Big points and wins were put up by Charlie Price, with a pin in the first period, and Nick Gill, although walking away losing 3-2, sealed the victory for the Knights.
Another key contributor for the Knights on Wednesday night was junior Chris Barr.
“We threw him in there, he did a fabulous job, went after the guy, was real aggressive, and got the nice win.”
The final match was with Nick Gill who had an opportunity to seal the win for the Knights and capitalized on that opportunity.
“Nick kept it close 3-2 going into the 3rd period and he lost 3-2 but that was enough to keep the win for the Knights” Shettsline said.
Looking ahead, Coach Shettsline said that to improve the Knights need to “stay off their backs” and “be more aggressive.”
The Knights will next travel to the Pottsgrove Challenge this weekend.
