Moyer Hits Route 30 for a Cause

LANSDALE – Doug Moyer, a teacher at Penndale Middle School, is partnering with 6ABC and Dunkin’ Donuts to fight hunger this holiday season. The 6ABC Dunkin’ Donuts Philly Challenge is Moyer’s attempt to run 350 miles along Route 30 from Pittsburgh to the Philabundance Headquarters in Philadelphia with the goal of raising awareness of the 65,000 individuals who rely on Philabundance for nutritious food each week.

Moyer hopes his running inspires people to go to the Dunkin’ Philly Facebook page, www.facebook.com/dunkinphilly, between now and Saturday, December 31st and click the “Like” button. For every Dunkin’ Philly Like button click on Facebook, Dunkin’ Donuts will donate a meal to Philabundance. Those not on Facebook can do their part by going to the 6ABC website at www.6abc.com and clicking the Dunkinphilly Like Us on Facebook icon at the top of the homepage.

Philabundance is the region’s largest hunger relief organization. In 2010, Philabundance distributed 21 million pounds of food to low income residents at risk of hunger and malnutrition, of which 23% are children and 16% are senior citizens. There are almost a million people in the Delaware Valley who face hunger every day. Learn more about Philabundance at www.philabundance.org.
