Voices of the Candidates: Elisha Gee

The Knight Crier offered this year’s North Penn School Board candidates the opportunity to address our readers as we approach the November 7th election. These submissions reflect the views of the candidates themselves.
Voices of the Candidates: Elisha Gee

Thank you to the Knight Crier for the opportunity to share information about myself and my candidacy for North Penn School Board Director.

I have been a North Penn resident for 24 years and am the proud mom of a North Penn Class of 2020 graduate.  I also have two North Penn Seniors who will be graduating this year.  We enjoy living in a community that celebrates inclusivity and diversity. We have also benefited from amazing North Penn educators who have helped each of my children to grow and become who they are.  I moved to Pennsylvania 25 years ago to work as a teacher.  I loved being in the classroom and engaging with my students.  I am currently an elementary principal in a neighboring district and am fortunate to get to continue to help children grow and learn every day.  One of my greatest joys is sitting with the kindergarten students as they learn to read.  I am sure many of you recall those early days and maybe even your favorite book!

In 2018, I was appointed to the North Penn School Board and elected in 2019.  This year I am running for re-election to continue the vision of North Penn Neighbors for Progress. I am grateful to be running with Kunbi Rudnick, Cathy Wesley, Juliane Ramic, and Tim MacBain.  Our diverse backgrounds and experiences allow us to bring different perspectives to the board, while committing to the ideals of supporting our North Penn School Community.

Part of our commitment is to continue to improve and maintain our facilities by providing innovative learning spaces where all students have an opportunity to open their minds, experiment, and become the next generation of productive citizens.  We also hope to continue our commitment to internships and dual enrollment experiences to help students find their true passion and prepare for a future after high school.  For many of you who are just starting high school or maybe applying to colleges, you may be trying to figure out who you are and what you want to do.  We hope that North Penn is the place where those ideas blossom and you are able to find the place where you can have the greatest impact. I also believe in honoring every person in our North Penn community for who they are and who they hope to be.  Our North Penn students are all unique and deserve to belong to a space that honors and celebrates them as an individual. That means ensuring that our school community is welcoming and inclusive of all.

When I think of North Penn Schools and what they have given my family, I hope that my efforts to give back to my community will benefit many generations of North Penn families in the future. Warmest regards,

Elisha Gee
