Voices of the Candidates: Diana Blystone

The Knight Crier offered this year’s North Penn School Board candidates the opportunity to address our readers as we approach the November 7th election. These submissions reflect the views of the candidates themselves.
Voices of the Candidates: Diana Blystone

North Penn Community,

My name is Diana Blystone and I am running for North Penn School District Board of Directors. I live in Towamencin with my 3 children and dog child Frank. My son is non speaking and has autism. I am the co founder and Treasurer of a non profit North Penn Parents Special Education Alliance. My “why” is that children, our children,  are our countries greatest asset. Parents, teachers, staff, and community have a shared responsibility to work together for our children. They do not get a second chance.

We are at a pivotal crossroad where we can embrace our success but urgently acknowledge and address the issues that face our district. Mastering the curriculum is crucial to educational success , however life skills such as deadlines, expectations, accountability and respect are fundamental principles needed for success after North Penn. Staff burn out effect all children.

There are many large infrastructure projects in the near future. It’s undeniable that the high school needs a renovation. That being said we need to stay focused on the people that impact our children from when they leave our care to the time they return. It is these dedicated individuals that give our children 21st education.

Our community is made up of people with diverse cultures, religions and ideas. This diverse community deserse to have diversity of thought and perspective. I believe we all value our children enough to work together, for the greater good. Representation matters, I hope that I get an opportunity to earn the trust of the community. People and conversation before political party is the only way forward.

Respectfully,

Diana Blystone
