Live music could soon be a big feature at the North Penn High School Junior Prom.

The 2024 class cabinet has been brainstorming some ways that students can have a more diverse music selection, at this year’s Junior Prom, and at the same time provide the attendees with contrasting atmospheres throughout the event. For the first time in many years, a few lucky North Penn Students may have the opportunity to showcase their musical talents at the 2023 Junior Prom!

If you are part of a musical group and are looking for a Saturday Night gig on March 25th, auditions are opening soon for the chance to perform on the Main Lobby stage in front of your peers. All grades ranging from 10-12 may audition, however, if you are interested in doing this and happen to be a junior, just keep in mind that this will be cutting into your prom night, so take that into consideration when deciding to audition.

“We want to include people at the school who have their own band to come in and perform a couple of sets in increments of times… It’s definitely fine for juniors to audition, as long as they’re okay with not spending their entire time on the dance floor,” class cabinet member Subhiksha Aruselvam explained.

The audition process is simple. If interested, all applicants just need to record a segment (about a minute long) and send it in to @np.class.24 on instagram for them to further review it.

“Basically, you just take a video of you and your band playing, including the band members name and what grade you’re in, and submit it to the class of 2024 instagram account through DM,” Aruselvam elaborated.

Prom is coming up quickly, so if this performance opportunity sparks an interest in you, act fast! Before you know it, submissions will no longer be accepted, as class cabinet will be judging all auditions very soon.

We are accepting submissions starting this week and through the week of March 10th. The tenth will be the last day to submit a set or two, and the week of the 13th through 17th, the class cabinet will review it, and we’ll be choosing who we want to play at the prom.

“We are accepting submissions starting this week and through the week of March 10th. The tenth will be the last day to submit a set or two, and the week of the 13th through 17th, the class cabinet will review it, and we’ll be choosing who we want to play at the prom,” Aruselvam said.

What will you be playing if you are selected? It has been decided that there will be a few half-hour increments when the live music will play (for example from 8:00 to 8:30, and maybe again from 9 to 9:30) just so there aren’t too many conflicts, but also so there are multiple opportunities for the prom attendees to watch it live!

The goal for this implementation is to switch up the vibe of Junior Prom a little bit. It can be a bit overwhelming when crowded with your classmates in the gym with the booming speakers, so the Junior Class Cab came up with a more “chill” option to be available throughout different increments during JProm.

More information regarding Junior Prom and the band auditions will be released periodically leading up to the night of prom. Keep paying attention to the announcements for details, and contact members of the 2024 class cabinet if any questions arise.
