TOWAMENCIN – North Penn High School is recognized as a school in which students excel in academics and athletics. These accomplishments could not be made possible without the incredible directors and leaders of North Penn, who encourage students to thrive beyond what is expected. These characteristics are what describe North Penn Knights of Honor

On Friday October 26th, Rick Carroll, Yolanda Wisher, and Cynthia L. Louden were named Knights of Honor. This award is given to individuals who have made a lasting impact on the North Penn community. Whether it be in athletics, academics, or theater production, the three inductees were proud to be commemorated for their good works in the community.

“I have walked down the halls and I have seen the pictures of other people that have been honored. I looked at it in admiration… never even thought that for one minute I would be considered for something like [this award],” reflected former North Penn Aquatic director Rick Carroll.

The acceptance speeches focused on the main point that the 2018 Knights of Honor owe much of their success to the students and families of the community. Without the help and encouragement of others, the accomplishments Rick Carroll, Yolanda Wisher, and Cynthia Louden have made would be difficult to imagine.

“I also had many fantastic parent volunteers who were always willing to sew costumes into the wee hours of the morning, create props, or the parent that would act as my secretary typing, cutting, and pasting our fantastic programs… We created a large theater family, and I enjoy their friendships today,” explained former NPHS theater director Cynthia Louden as she accepted her award.

Yolanda Wisher was unable to attend the ceremony, but accepted her award through a video. Wisher’s presence was surely palpable as she recited a beautifully written poem thanking everyone who has inspired her throughout her life. Wisher was a former student at North Penn High school and left her legacy as an amazing poet and writer.

“Students are mesmerized by [ Wisher’s] poetry and her advice. Even when she was a student st NPHS, there was no doubt in her English teachers’ minds that Yolanda had a special gift,” stated English teacher Janet Kratz, who nominated Wisher.

The three inductees have diligently worked throughout their careers to help others in the community. They have taken on the spirit and character of a North Penn Knight.

“ I will always bleed North Penn Blue,” proclaimed Cynthia Louden during her speech.

This is a statement all Knights of Honor can declare, as they remain involved in the community, even after retirement.
