George Bush Sr. Sex Scandal

As of Friday, three women have come forward and accused former president of the United States George H.W. Bush of inappropriately touching them. The three accusers all have a similar story: during a photo-op, they say the former president shared a dirty joke with them and then proceeded to grab them inappropriately. Bush’s spokesman, Jim McGrath, acknowledged the incidents, and directed CNN to a statement released on Wednesday. “To try to put people at ease, the president routinely tells the same joke — and on occasion, he has patted women’s rears in what he intended to be a good-natured manner,” McGrath’s statement reads: “Some have seen it as innocent; others clearly view it as inappropriate. To anyone he has offended, President Bush apologizes most sincerely.”

Catalonia Government Declares Independence from Spain

Spain dismissed Catalonia’s president and Cabinet and dissolved its Parliament on Friday hours after lawmakers in the autonomous region defied Madrid and voted to declare independence. Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said the moves to call new elections and fire the Catalan police chief were needed to restore legality after a political and constitutional crisis had gripped the country for months. The dramatic and fast-moving events pushed Spain into uncharted territory, testing the limits of the constitution drawn up after the restoration of democracy in the 1970s.
