Calendar, NPTV, and school lunch among topics discussed by board

LANSDALE – Opening with a warm thank you to the NP employees who kept the schools open and safe during the cold weather, the school board met on January 16th to discuss committee reports and approve recommendations.

The calendar for the 2014-2015 school year was approved, totaling 180 student days and 192 teacher days. The extra twelve days will be inservice days for teachers as mandated by the current NPEA contract.

The school board approved the purchase of a Closed Caption Encoder to be used on the North Penn Television Channel. This purchase will help all who are hard of hearing by providing subtitles onscreen for all programming.

The school board also discussed the online payment method for school lunches. By registering for free on the MyPaymentsPlus website, a parent can monitor his or her child’s lunch account. A helpful service the site provides is the ability to set the account to send an automatic email when a child’s balance gets to a designated point. Therefore, a parent does not have to wonder whether or not his or her child’s account is running low. To register for this program, visit the link below.

The next board meeting will be the work session meeting on February 11th at the ESC building.
