G.A.S Pumps up North Penn Students and Staff

TOWAMENCIN – On February 16th, Mr. Jon Fluck pumped some G.A.S. in the proverbial tank of North Penn physical education.

G.A.S. Night, an acronym for games, activities, and sports, allowed for students to meet up with their friends and play some of their favorite gym class games. Events  included Pickle Ball, Volleyball, Basketball, Table Tennis, “Just Dance” and a Dodgeball tournament to round out the night.

The school’s newest event certainly was a success and brought a positive reaction from many students. “I definitely think G.A.S. is a positive thing for the school and community. Everyone’s looking for something to do and it got everyone together doing something that is not destructive” said North Penn Senior Nick Bernitt.

“It was really nice to see the whole North Penn body playing as a cohesive unit” said Senior Dom Braccia. North Penn students came out in full force and that type of support could lead to more frequent G.A.S. nights in the future.

For a first time event, the night went off with barley a hitch, and any tweaks that may need to be implemented in the future are certainly minor. “I think they can definitely improve on the organization of the whole night, at times there were ten to twelve people on one volleyball team so it got a little bit hectic.”

Perhaps the only reason for some hectic moments may have been the impressive turnout for this inaugural event. Despite some issues with organization, North Penn’s first ever G.A.S. night proved to be a resounding success. Many kids were able to come out, be active, and have fun with their friends.

“G.A.S. Night was a huge success, we got way more kids then we even anticipated. With this turn out, the fun we had and the way the kids acted, we are definitely going to try and do another G.A.S. night, at least one more by the time the school year is over” said G.A.S. night creator, Mr. Fluck.

The efforts of the rest of the physical education department did not go unnoticed, Fluck stated his gratitude and his satisfaction by saying “The entire health and phys. ed. department did an awesome job. I could not be happier with the way the first ever G.A.S. night turned out”
