Your how-to guide to the perfect senior quote

Upon leaving North Penn High School, what do you want to be remembered as? For many students in the class of 2017, senior quotes are an all too popular subject and a great way to be remembered as more than just your senior portrait. There are many different ways to go upon formulating the perfect senior quote that fits your personality, self image, and morals. I’m here to help you come up with the perfect quote that has you and your fellow classmates feeling satisfied toward moving forward in life.

Comical approach: While often a classic, don’t be basic! You can easily over think your quote and end up with an offensive, or inappropriate adage. Use an inside joke; something that you and your friends joked about all throughout high school is an easy way to not only get a good laugh, but for your friends to look back and remember a funny moment. Also, it’s a good idea to refrain from any subtle hinting topics; this could result in a trip to your home office, and well, it’s all downhill from their.

Example: “I don’t wish I was Kylie Jenner, Kylie wishes she was me.”

The classic movie/TV show quote: While it’s another classic, this is a great way to be remembered as a funny, optimistic person. Taking a well known TV show and combining it with a popular quote that is character recognizable should get the job done. You want to steer clear of any potential situations where you wind up with the same quote as someone else; the point of a senior quote is to help you stand out and be remembered as who you actually are, not who you want to be.

Example:  “I’m in shape…. Round is a shape.” – Peter Griffin

Quoting other people: This is an approach that can come off funny, but often times leaves people confused, so you have to make sure you go about doing this in the right way. For instance, try using something your mom said repeatedly throughout your childhood that will give your family a good laugh upon reading. This is also a good way to quote something a good friend said and should keep you and your friend group laughing!

Example: “Those dishes ain’t gonna wash themselves,” Mom.

Words of advice: As they say, the internet is forever, and so is your senior quote. This is something people in your class will remember you by forever, so avoid putting any potential issues where you would look back and wonder, “What was I thinking?”

Additionally, avoid complaining about the aspects of high school, such as teachers, cafeteria food, etc. Everyone has their rough patches in high school, but you definitely do not want to be remembered as a Debbie downer. Remember to have fun, and pick a quote that shows who you are. Keep in mind that you will go down in North Penn history by your senior quote!
