Knights lose to Indians; on 4-game skid

A.J. Mitchell goes in for a lay up.

SOUDERTON-  The Knights tempo wasn’t flowing as well as it usually does and the crisp ball movement by the Indians helped get them the win.

“They defended well, we were a little stagnant on the offensive side and we didn’t make shots.  Couldn’t get any stops, we couldn’t get any stops that led to transition,” Head Coach John Conrad said.

The North Penn Knights (8-7) lost on the road against the Souderton Indians (5-11) 57-46 in game 2 of a Thursday night double header.

The Knights had the lead early but the Indians claimed the lead with 3:24 left in the first thanks to a layup from Mekhi Williams.  Junior Mike Chaffee tied the game up at 12 with a three-pointer but Williams made a layup to break that tie and Sami Chouiraf made a three to help give the Indians an 18-12 lead into the 2nd quarter.

The Knights only scored 6 points in the 2nd quarter, all of them from two three-pointers from senior Chris Caputo.  They went scoreless for the last 5:46 of the half while Souderton built an 11-point lead into halftime.  The offensive struggles for the Knights continued to struggle in the third as they only had 1 point until 4:16 left in 3rd quarter.  The Indians shot 12/20 in the second half to ensure the win in front of their home crowd.

The Knights will be back at home for their next game which is on Saturday against the Bensalem Fighting Owls and look to bounce back from a 4-game losing streak.

“Just keep doing what we do.  It’s a long season, peaks and valleys.  We won some games early and we haven’t forgotten how to play, we haven’t forgotten how to coach.  We’ll just keeping doing what we do and there’s no other way,” Coach Conrad said.
