Pros of Winter

Snow

Snow has to be one of my favorite parts of winter. Not only does it get you out of school, but it’s beautiful to look at, especially when you wake up in the morning to see clumpy snowflakes falling and snow blanketing the ground. It’s a surreal sort of feeling to see snowfall, and nothing can replace the joy of sledding or building a snowman.

The Holidays

There’s a reason winter is called the most wonderful time of the year. Christmas, Kwanza, Hanukkah, and so many other holidays are what most people look forward to when December and January come around. Whether it’s for the presents, seeing family, or just enjoying the time off from school, it’s hard to find someone who doesn’t enjoy the holidays.

Holiday Decorations

I love when I’m driving at night during winter and see holiday lights outlining someone’s door or inflatable Santa Clauses waving in a front yard. It just shows that the person who put up those decorations, whether it is a simple candy cane or a whole assortment of glowing reindeer on the roof and festive music, really appreciates what the holidays are and what they mean to other people. As an added bonus, the expressions it brings to children’s faces is priceless.

No Bugs

Probably one of the most annoying parts of summer is having to slap mosquitoes off of your arms or legs and apply ridiculous amounts of bug spray. When winter comes around, the bugs go into hiding at the first sign of snowfall or even a brisk gust of chilly air.

Thick Clothes

Being able to wrap yourself in a fuzzy sweater or lounge in long sweatpants is something that wouldn’t be possible in the hot months of summer. T-shirts and shorts are fun and all, but nothing can beat an old hoodie and pajama pants.
