It can be a little morbid to think about how one day you will no longer be here. There is so much societal pressure on a person’s last words; how will the people who love you the most remember you? Will these individuals be able to find comfort in their last memories?
Brad Falchuk decided to take it upon himself to give the most influential and groundbreaking icons a chance to share their last words in Netflix’s new documentary series “Famous Last Words.” This opportunity has the goal of providing not just fans with comfort, but also the individual’s family members mourning the loss.
On October 1, 2025, Dr. Jane Goodall, founder of the Jane Goodall institute and groundbreaking anthropologist, passed away from natural causes.
Goodall spent around sixty years studying chimpanzees and of those sixty years, twenty-six were spent living right alongside them. She worked her way up and into a field that was very male dominated during the beginning of her career.
The announcement of her death caused the very first episode of “Famous Last Words” to be released on October 3, 2025. The goal of the documentary is to have a deep and meaningful interview with an influential person and lock it up until right after they pass away.
Goodall’s interview was full of reminiscence on her achievements, political digs, and the need to continue her mission.
“Your life does matter and every single day you live, you make a difference in the world and you get to choose the difference that you make,” Goodall stated.
She ends her documentary addressing her audience as she says her final farewell. She encourages people to continue her work and remember that there is still hope for the plant.
While Goodall may no longer be here with us, her achievements and discoveries are still essential in taking care of the environment. This final interview leaves her to be remembered in the exact light she had hoped for.
