The Simpsons have predicted everything – from the virus breaking out across the world to the election of President Trump.

America’s favorite cartoon family is at it again! Known for their wacky antics and eerily accurate foreshadowing, the Simpsons have done it, they predicted the Coronavirus.

In season four’s twenty-first episode, ‘Marge in Chains’, the town of Springfield is plagued by a flu, coincidentally called ‘coronavirus’. When a factory worker from Japan contaminates a product that had become a trend for the Simpsons characters, the flu spreads quickly. The whole episode draws similarities to what’s happening currently in China.

That’s not the only foreshadowing the show has done, each episode seems to be riddled with resemblances to  something that didn’t happen for years as of the episodes air date. To make this easier, here’s a list of the most popular Simpsons predictions.

1. The 2014 Ebola Outbreak

In ‘Lisa’s Sax’, an episode from season nine, Marge suggests reading her son a book titled, Curious George and the Ebola Virus. It may just be the writers’ dark sense of humor, making fun of the virus that was discovered in 1976, but when you realize that the virus didn’t even have the nickname ‘ebola virus’ before the 2014 outbreak, the jab gets all the creepier.

2. Daenerys Targaryen’s GOT Plot Twist (Spoilers ahead!)

When Daenerys obliterated King’s Landing in the second to last Game of Thrones episode, fans of the show were shocked. They were even more surprised when a 2017 episode of The Simpsons parodied the HBO drama and predicted the “big twist”.

3. Disney buying Fox

On December 14th, 2017, Disney bought 20th Century Fox in a deal estimated at $52.4 billion, acquiring their film studio and most of their television assets. The Simpsons predicted the buyout in a season 10 episode titled.”When you Dish Upon a Star”, displaying the 20th Century Fox logo with the addition of  ‘division of Walt Disney Co’.

4. President Trump

Probably the most horrifyingly accurate thing on this list, the Simpsons hinted at the Trump presidency in episode, ‘Bart to the Future’. Lisa Simpson, all grown up, becomes president in the year 2030 and complains of inheritance of ‘quite the budget crunch from President Trump’. While subtle, the joke of ‘President Trump’ became a seemingly unfortunate reality 16 years after the episode aired.

From epidemics to our current president, the show has guessed it all. The Simpsons is the longest running scripted show in America, having been on since 1989. They’ve made hundreds of predictions for the future, some of them accurate to the last detail, but it leaves the question:

If they’ve been accurate so far, who knows what else they’ve gotten right that hasn’t happened yet?
