Certain TV shows from the 2000’s have earned their place as iconic childhood shows.

Every generation of high school students have certain trends that represent the time they grew up in. Remembering these trends generates instantaneous nostalgia. For current high school students, one memory that creates that feeling is reminiscing our favorite 2000’s kids shows. I asked North Penn students what their favorite shows were as a kid, and many of the categories were close.

Favorite Kids TV channel: Disney Channel

Disney Channel earned the top prize in this category. Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network could not beat Disney Channel’s variety of original shows and movies that captured our attention featuring famous stars like Dylan Sprouse, Cole Sprouse, Selena Gomez, and Miley Cyrus.

Favorite Disney Channel Show: Hannah Montana and Suite Life of Zack and Cody

This category was tight with both Hannah Montana and Suite Life of Zack and Cody tying for first place. Hannah Montana introduced catchy bops such as “The Best of Both Worlds” and “Nobody’s Perfect.” Also who could forget belting out the lyrics to “The Climb” from the Hannah Montana movie soundtrack? Suite Life of Zack and Cody was also a classic. Viewers followed Zack and Cody’s adventures throughout the Tipton Hotel and enjoyed other loveable characters like London, Maddie, Mr. Moseby, and Esteban.

Favorite Nickelodeon Shows: Drake and Josh and iCarly

These two shows go hand in hand. Drake and Josh were step brothers and polar opposites, leading to memorable episodes and quotes such as “I ran over Oprah!” The cast was filled with hilarious characters such as Megan (Miranda Cosgrove) and Crazy Steve (Jerry Trainor). Drake and Josh was such a hit that viewers transitioned to watching Cosgrove and Trainor on the show iCarly. Every current high school student can undoubtedly recite every lyric of both the Drake and Josh and iCarly theme songs.

Favorite Cartoon Network Show: Johnny Test

Johnny Test followed the main character Johnny and his wild adventures with his genius twin sisters. Most episodes involved Johnny being a test subject for his sisters’ extravagant science experiments. These experiments usually failed and Johnny spent most of the episode facing the consequences. Johnny’s entertaining life with his sisters and talking dog surely made each episode of Johnny Test amusing.

Although certain shows took top prize according to North Penn students, there are still many memorable shows that made 2000’s Disney Channel and Nickelodeon an era to remember. Shows like Zoey 101, Wizards of Waverly Place, Victorious, and Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide dominated TV screens. These shows will be forever ingrained in our memories, creating sentimental feelings of nostalgia.
