A diverse palate- NP’s Mr. Kyle Berger an involved presence in the NPHS community

TOWAMENCIN -You may have seen him on the Morning Show or heard him on the radio, or you may just know him from the gigantic ring on his finger. But, however you know him, Mr. Kyle Berger is one person who is behind a lot of what goes on here at North Penn.

Berger has been a part of North Penn for a long time; not only was he an athlete, but he also was a part of the broadcasting class of 1996. After graduating from the University of Miami four years later (where he acuired his national championship ring as a member of the Canes broadcast team), Berger returned to North Penn as an Communications teacher, and later also became an English teacher. Soon after he began running the broadcasting classes, he became a co-adviser to SGA, and was an assistant wrestling coach for a short period of time as well. That is a lot for what is still a young career.

“What don’t I do here at North Penn?” joked Berger.

Berger does not spend all his time here at North Penn however, in his “off time” Berger is a PIAA wrestling official, and he also works for WNPV radio and announces baseball, softball, and high school football games. Despite the non-North Penn affiliated activities Berger does, he always knows that North Penn comes first and that teaching is where his priorities lie.

“You have to be really cognizant of your time; you have to make sure priority number one is teaching, and everything else is in your spare time,” explained Berger.

Berger is mainly known at North Penn for his broadcasting and announcing expertise; he assists in running the morning show, broadcasts sports such as football and baseball for NPTV, and teaches the television production courses. He loves every football game he broadcasts but his favorite event he ever broadcasted was the baseball State Championship last year.

“I like doing football on the radio, it’s always fun. But, last year I had the opportunity to announce the baseball championship game on the radio and that was an exciting game. Baseball was my first love, and it’s basically just a three hour conversation where you can talk about the most random things, where broadcasting on football is very regimental,” continued Berger.

Not only is Berger into sports and video production, He is also an aficionado of the cooking world. Even with his fiancée being a vegetarian, Berger loves to be adventurous with his cooking and try new and fun things. Some of his favorite things to make are steak au poivre , and he is very good at his breakfast omelets and his butternut squash lasagna. His secret weapon, however, is his cheesesteak eggrolls. Mixed with spicy ketchup, it is not the healthiest of foods but still one of his favorite dishes that never goes uneaten.

Kyle Berger has been a part of everything here at North Penn, and when he looks back he can’t find anything he wished he should have done or wished he didn’t do.

“I’m never the one to look back and say I wish I had done something; you play with the hand you are dealt and you do the best you can.” said Berger.
