As one of the largest high schools in Pennsylvania, North Penn has hundreds of kids that come in at 7:21 and leave at 2:12. Getting involved in some type of extracurricular activity is an experience that everyone should go through, especially at a school that presents exponential opportunity. Future Business Leaders of America is a great starting point.
“Our club is different than most. It looks good on college applications, and you choose how much work you want to put into it. Most other clubs mandate ‘x’ amount of meetings ‘y’ times a week, but that’s not how it works in FBLA. You promote yourself depending on the amount of effort you put in.” “We encourage active attendees, but we also accept low-key participants. Entirely your choice, you’re in the club either way,” said Vice President Steven Blumberg.
Mrs. Westerlund, the club advisor, says “FBLA gives students the opportunity to set attainable goals while taking part in business and leadership opportunities. Students can represent North Penn at the Region, State, and National level. They get to interact with students from our local region, from across the State of Pennsylvania, and from across the Nation. FBLA gives students the opportunity to improve their skills and themselves. Everyone is welcome to join.”
The national single school leader in FBLA participants is Ballard High School in Kentucky with about 570 participants. With 3,000 students at NPHS, we have more than enough potential to become the nationwide leader in FBLA members.
