Permanent ink strikes the skin of NPHS students
As a high school student, I never expected a large number of my classmates to have tattoos at such a young age. Considering this, I took it upon myself to interview students at North Penn High School to get to know their thought processes on making this permanent mark.
Permanent markings made by these high school students are ones that will last forever.
Kylin Heins
When did you get your tattoos? I got my tattoos in November for my eighteenth birthday.
Where did you get them done? I got my two left arm tattoos at mercury tattoos in Doylestown and my right arm tattoo I got from a friend’s sister.
How old were you when you got your first tattoo? 18
Is there a message behind your tattoo and if so what? My left arm tattoos both have meanings. The sun one is a matching one with my mom. Hers says “you are my sunshine” and mine says “my only sunshine”. The dog one is of my dog who passed away. My right arm snake is just for fun.
What did it feel like when you got them done? It was uncomfortable. It kind of felt like someone was slowly dragging their nail across your skin. Since I got pretty small tattoos, they were very quick and it didn’t hurt much.
Do you plan on getting any more tattoos? Yes! I loved tattoos and want to get many more. I’m currently on a tattoo ban from my mom because I got my first three so quickly but I definitely plan on getting more.

When did you get your tattoos? On my birthday, April 9 this year, 2022.
Where did you get them done? I got it done at Local Color Tattoo done by my assistant track coach.
How old were you when you got your first tattoo? 18
Is there a message behind your tattoo and if so what? I was adopted and my tattoo is a rose and my adoption date which is May 9, 2007, and it is very meaningful to me.
What did it feel like when you got them done? It wasn’t too bad. It was more like an uncomfortable pain and a burning sensation.
Do you plan on getting any more tattoos? I do plan on getting one or two more but I don’t know yet but if I do, I want them to also be meaningful.

When did you get your tattoos? I got my tattoos last year.
Where did you get them done? My friend did them for me.
How old were you when you got your first tattoo? 16
Is there a message behind your tattoo and if so what? The message behind the lightning bolt is that I am strong and loud.
What did it feel like when you got them done? It tickled.
Do you plan on getting any more tattoos? I plan on getting 3 more.
