As spring arrives and the senior class prepares to depart for the annual Disney trip, it is time for the Class of 2014 to start thinking about next year’s Disney trip and what is involved in making the trip an exciting, not to be missed experience.
The senior class trip is a four day trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida and the tentative date is March 8th-11th, 2014. The trip is open to any senior and costs approximately $1,034. There are plenty of fundraising opportunities still available to help lower the cost of your trip. These include plant sales, car washes, bake sales, and wreath and poinsettia sales.
May 18th – Plant sale
September – Mum sale
October – Wreath and poinsettia sale
October/early November – Thanksgiving pie sales
“The Disney trip is a worldwide tour for 4 days,” explains class advisor Ms. Mary Scott, “we arrive at the high school at 5am and then go to Philadelphia International Airport and right from the plane we go to Magic Kingdom and Epicot and they spend the either day there. That Saturday we do the Electric Parade and then we meet back up at the hotel. The following day is really the class bonding activity so that’s the day when the either class gets to hang out at Blizzard Beach. And that night is followed up with the medieval times dinner – its actually really cool. Day three is Universal Studios and Island of Adventure and they spend the whole day there and then we go back to the hotel for a pizza party. Then our last day at Disney, we spend at Hollywood studios MGM and from there come back home.”
In order to go on this fun filled trip, juniors must fill out the Intent to Participate form and a $50 deposit to hold your spot.
“By the end of September, we need $350 from anyone who intends to go on the trip, so that basically reserves your plane ticket. Also all final payments are due mid November, and we will accept cash, check, by mail, in person – I’ll take anything you got,” concedes Ms. Scott.
If you have seen juniors from the Class Cabinet walking around with the red Disney T-shirts, there are a few left to anyone who makes their $50 deposit. However, the shirts were originally given to the first 50 people who made their deposits. “We are looking at doing them next year if you’re going on the trip you’ll get one, but we have to make sure we get enough money first.”
“I must admit I’m a huge Eeyore fan and I have now been to Disney three years and have yet to meet the furry little creature. I am determined that I’m going to meet Eeyore,” exclaimed Ms. Scott “and if I do I’m going to wear my Eeyore costume because I have one. I am also looking forward to the Mickey Mouse waffles and you definitely want to be in my group because I give out cool prizes every day.”
Juniors who plan on going on the trip explain what they are most looking forward to experiencing. Junior Deanna Marcarelli looks forward to sitting on the plane to Disney next to Ms. Scott, and junior Preom Sarkar says that she looks forward to “finding my prince and getting all the character autographs.” Additionally, junior Laura Nejako says that “I’m most looking forward to my once and a lifetime opportunity to spending a week with Ms. Scott.”
SIGN UP TODAY because in the words of Ms. Scott “You’re never going to have this chance again!”
