Deck the Halls with SGA

According to Dylan Eiger, president of North Penn’s Student Government Association, the time has come to “get North Penn in the holiday spirit and give back to the community, as well.”

With holiday decorations filling the stores and jolly jingles blaring from the radio, we can no longer hide from the fact that December is rapidly approaching–and bringing the holiday season with it.

Always prepared, SGA has begun planning for a Candy Cane Sale, tentatively scheduled for the week of December 5 to December 9.

“Students and faculty members will be able to send a personalized candy cane to anybody in the school. Each candy cane costs 50 cents. When you purchase a candy cane, you will fill out a slip that says whom it is to, whom it is from–and you can even put a personalized message on the slip as well,” said Eiger.

The candy canes will then be delivered to 9th period classes on December 22, just in time for the holiday break.

A portion of the proceeds raised from the Candy Cane Sale will be donated to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, according to Eiger.

“This is a great way to wish your friends and teachers and administrators a great holiday season,” said Eiger.

A tradition at North Penn during the month of December, 3,000 light bulbs will begin to adorn the hallways on December 16, and stay up until the last day before break, December 23–the day on which students and staff are welcome to take them home.

Do you want to get involved in this North Penn tradition?

“If anyone would like to help hang up the light bulbs, we will be hanging them up on December 15 right after school. It does count for KEY Club service hours,” said Eiger.

To sign up to help or to get more information about any upcoming SGA event, students can stop and see Mr. Berger in room D-10.
