Dante’s NFL – Week 9 recap

Dante Watson, Staff Writer

Week 9 Best Passer: Marcus Mariota, Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans rookie starting quarterback had a near perfect game against a very experienced New Orleans Saints team, and led his team on top with a 34-28 win. He went 28 for 39 throwing for 371 yards and tossing 4 touchdown scores. He also finished the day with a 135.7 quarterback rating.

Week 9 Best Runner: DeAngelo Williams, Pittsburgh Steelers
After a season ending injury to starting running back Le’Veon Bell last week, DeAngelo Williams found himself in a rather familiar role as the Steelers featured back on Sunday. His efforts along with his counterpart, Antonio Brown, helped boost Pittsburgh over a stout Raiders team, whom has one of the stingiest defenses in the league. Williams rushed the ball 27 times that accounted for 170 yards, as well as, 2 crucial touchdowns.

Week 9 Best Receiver: Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers
The best overall receiver in the league had himself a Terrell Owens-like game. Brown hauled in 17 receptions for 284 yards, 10 of which occurred in the first half alone. His superhuman efforts are even more spectacular, since his starting quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, didn’t even finish the game after being injured in the second half. Even though he didn’t score against the Raiders, he set up his team to eventually score; that being the case on the Steelers game winning drive.

Week 9 Best Defense: San Francisco 49ers
The struggling 49ers finally found a bright spot on Sunday with a win against the very potent Atlanta Falcons. San Francisco’s defense held, arguably, the best offense in check the whole game holding the Falcons offense to under 300 yards and only 16 points. This effort could mean big things in the future for the Bay area.
