COLMAR – Closing in on the end of the first period, North Penn sophomore Declan Willison entered the penalty box for ripping a CB Easts player’s stick out of his hands, creating a power play for the Patriots. North Penn senior defender James Boyle, from his own end, smacks the puck off the wall and slides right into senior forward Nolan Shingle grasp and into the back of the net to bring the score to 3-1 in the Knights favor.

North Penn Ice Hockey celebrated its 50th anniversary with a dominant win over the CB East Patriots. The first period was filled with lots of action from both offenses with a combined shot count of 29 shots on goal. North Penn started the scoring off with a pass from Landon Hostetter to Luke Haftel who buried the puck into the back of the net within the first 6 minutes of the game.

After an equalizer from the Patriots, Sam Norton found Derek Lugara for another goal with 2 minutes left in the first period. As the period was coming to a close, Delcan Willison entered the penalty box but it was no matter for the Knights; James Boyle found Nolan Shingle for a goal with 20 seconds left to put the Knights up 3 to 1. To cap off the period Aidan Quigley saved his fourth shot of the period.

The second period was full of a defensive masterclass from both teams. Though the Knights added 26 shots on goal to the stat sheet, they earned no goals. The Knights dominated the Patriots offense allowing only three shots on goal to be put up and all were saved by Quigley. The second period was full of hits and lots of tension between both teams.

The third and final period was just as entertaining as the second with a lot more hits and some heated arguments between players. This led to some time in the penalty box for Sam Norton, but it had no effect as Quiqley saved both shots put up by the Patriots ending their hopes. North Penn finished the period with 11 shots but no goals. Both teams put on a defensive show after the first period with the CB East goalie ending with 55 saves.

North Penn kept up the pressure all game long ending with 58 shots on goal led by Christopher Silvotti and Samuel Norton, each having 9 shots and Danial Cabrales with 7. Quigley ended the game with 9 saves keeping the Patriots off the board for two of the three periods.

North Penn will travel to play Malvern Prep on  November 5th, and Central Bucks East will take on Souderton at home on on the same day at 8:30.
