TOWAMENCIN- The Knights beat the Panthers by 29 points in a dominating Friday night win, and a big part of the win was Josh Jones who had the hot hand.

“[Jones] didn’t play basketball his first two years, so the more experience he gets, the more comfortable he feels.  He’s a good athlete,” head coach John Conrad said.

The North Penn Knights (3-7) defeated the Quakertown Panthers (0-8) 67-38 in the North Penn High School gymnasium.

Matt Swanson had the first two points of the game as he made a shot off a post fadeaway to give the Knights a 2-0 lead with 6:56 left in the opening quarter.  After that bucket, the Knights were ahead for the rest of the game.  With 2:49 left in first quarter, Jones went 2/2 at the free throw line to extend the North Penn lead to double digits, 12-2.  The first quarter concluded with the score at 14-5.

The lead grew to over 20 points, as the score at halftime was 39-12.  Jones had 15 points in the first half, including two three-pointers to help build the Knights lead.

“As soon as I went to the free throw line for the first two points, saw the ball go in the basket, I got a little more confidence in my shot and I just started letting it fly,” Jones explained.

He continued the success into the second half where he put up 13 points and the Knights lead continued to grow.  Rob Carangi made a layup with 3:45 left in the third quarter to extend the lead to 30 points, 49-19.  The third quarter ended with the score at 52-26, before their eventual 67-38 win.

The Knights are back in action at CB West on Tuesday the 7th, for a date with the Bucks.

“We can’t be satisfied.  We got to continue to get better.  We’re trying to get a little win streak going,” Coach Conrad said.
