TOWAMENCIN- It was a must win game for the Knights but the hot offense of the Rams took control in the second quarter and didn’t let up.

The North Penn Knights (9-13) lost to the Pennridge Rams (20-2) 76-55 in Thursday night matchup for the last home regular season game and senior night.

“I thought we competed really hard.  We needed to make more shots.  I thought we had a lot of good looks, we just didn’t make enough shots and [the Rams] are really good,” Head Coach John Conrad said.

The game started off well for the Knights who tied the game at 4 with 5:56 left in the first quarter off a free throw from senior Chris Caputo.  Junior Mike Chaffee followed that with a three to give the Knights a 7-4 lead.  With the game tied at 12, Caputo made a three to help the Knights take a 15-14 lead into the second quarter.

“I thought we just had to get off to a quick start cause Pennridge [is] a great team so we had to come up to a fast start,” Caputo said.

But after that, it was all about the Rams offense and the Knights lack of it.  The Knights went scoreless for the first 5:23 of the second quarter where junior Matt Swanson scored off an assist from junior Kolby Barrow.  But the Rams just continued to outscore the Knights to get the win.  After the first quarter, the Rams outscored the Knights 62-40.  Pat Gillespie made 4 threes in the second quarter to go with John Post’s 24 points in the game.

“John Post was killing us inside so we were trying to help a little bit and they made us pay by making shots from the perimeter,” Coach Conrad said.
