TOWAMENCIN- Despite putting up no points on the scoreboard in the second half, North Penn’s defense was all they needed to win in their last regular season game at home.

The North Penn Knights (9-0) undefeated season continues after a Friday night lights matchup against the CB South Titans (3-6) ended in a 21-10 victory for the Knights. Along with Senior Night festivities for the 23 graduating seniors on the Knights football roster, the game included strong performances by North Penn’s offense and defense.

The Knights would start the scoring with a 6-yard rushing touchdown by senior running back Shamar Edwards, who would run for a total of 94 yards on 23 carries in the contest.

“It feels great to be apart and contribute to a win on senior night, and we know we are good enough to fight our way into the end zone and scratch out a conversion,” stated Edwards.

Highlighting the performances on both sides of the ball was the three and out forced by the Knights’ defense on the Titans first drive as well as the do or die play calling by North Penn’s head coach, Dick Beck.

“I feel pretty good on fourth down and if we are under a yard, or two from the conversion, I feel pretty confident in the kids to get what we want,” Beck stated.

Followed by a 35-yard rushing touchdown by senior, Julian White, was a 2-point conversion attempt proved successful, after Solomon Robinson found junior, Evan Spann, for an end zone reception.

“(Coach Beck) just tells me to trust my gut, and do what I gotta do. He’s been teaching me everything I have to see and if I see, what I’m looking for in the end zone, or for a first down, I go for it,” Robinson.  Robinson threw for 100 yards in the air on a 6-13 passing game.

The Knights continued to dominate on offense as Robinson found senior, Jon Haynes, for a 27-yard touchdown pass.  This was Haynes’s 4th end zone visit on the season and it gave the Knights a 21-3 lead with 0:50 left in the first half. Both teams’ defenses would hunker down and keep the score still at 21-3 heading into the 4th quarter.

“For our defense, we were just looking to play fast, hard, and aggressive, and we knew we had a lot to accomplish and did what we had to do,” stated senior cornerback, Kaleem Corbin.

With a late 25-yard touchdown reception thrown by CB South’s backup quarterback, Carter Hallgren, and caught by senior wide receiver, Brady Prezelski, the Titans first and only end zone visit would not be enough to mount a 4th quarter comeback, leaving the final score at 21-10.

“It’s good to be 9 and 0 and I think tonight was our best night throwing the ball and I thought Solomon did a nice job scrambling and making plays with his feet and we are healthy upfront defensively so I was happy with that,” said Beck.

With one more matchup left on their regular season schedule, the Knights will be at William Tennant next Friday night.
